About Us

Our Mission

We help highly sensitive individuals find harmony with their emotions. We ensure that clients who would typically slip through the cracks in therapy are seen, supported and have the skills they need to create meaningful change in their lives.

Our Values

  • Combined Efforts

We are dedicated to helping one another and understand all of the responsibility doesn't live in one person. We believe in respecting one another, while wanting the best for our clients and team.

  • Radically Genuine

We allow ourselves to be human while honoring self as an individual. We believe connection comes from authenticity. We encourage a work space and culture, where people aren't afraid to ask questions or get it wrong. This helps clients feel safe to be themselves and experiment with being true selves in order to be more authentic in their everyday lives.

  • Commitment to Excellence

We are dedicated to delivering the best treatment possible to our clients, and that requires ongoing learning, training and consultation on our part. We respect the time and efforts put in by our clients to heal, and we aim to make it worth it for them.

  • Embrace Change

We believe in embracing change in our everyday lives. We can recognize that change is inevitable and part of our journey. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it and join the dance!

Not Taking New Clients

(he/him/his)

  • Hello, hello! My name is Ian Friedrich and I am a therapist who is dedicated to helping you live the life you dream for yourself. If you have ever felt your emotions have gotten in the way of your relationships or other areas of your life, then I am excited to work with you on validating what you experience and using these emotions to reach your goals. Using the DBT model we will develop skills and insight that will help you navigate future challenging moments. My role as a therapist has given me experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with Borderline Personality Disorders, who have experienced complex trauma, and individuals seeking guidance regarding sexuality and gender concerns. I have a passion for working with individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have completed training which includes Sexuality and Gender Conference by Harvard and Affirming Care for Transgender and Gender Expansive Youth. I am committed to continuing to learn and offer Affirmative Therapy to adolescents, families, and adults.

My approach to therapy includes utilizing DBT, relational, and psychodynamic work to achieve the goals you have for yourself. We will develop effective skills to help manage moments of distress and process past experiences that still feel like a heavy weight. The therapeutic setting is where we will utilize skills to become more assertive in our relationships, increase our comfort in being open and honest, and change our perspective on life.

I meet all my clients with compassion and my genuine self to help navigate the challenges that life often places on us. Therapy may seem overwhelming, however, I feel positive that I can guide you toward healthy changes. Imagine feeling a confident sense of self, facing challenges with a steady mind, and having meaningful relationships. These are goals that we can work towards together. I am here to support anyone looking to make positive changes for themselves, no matter what has happened in your past. I am excited to start our work together to confidently stride into your future.

Britt Carilli

LMSW, EMDR Trained Clinician

(she/they)

  • Hi, there! My name is Britt and my job is to help you recognize the power you already have. I know you might be thinking, “Well, if I'm so self-sufficient, then why am I going to therapy?” I know from my own lived experiences that when you struggle with your mental health, it’s easy to forget how capable you are. What I’ve come to recognize is that therapy is far more than two people chatting; it involves being vulnerable, building trust, and facing discomfort. It takes bravery to be in therapy and I commend you for taking that step towards lasting positive change! Whatever you’re going through, you can do it and you don’t have to do it alone.

Finding the right therapist can be a frustrating process. When you come to our sessions together, you know that your treatment is just that—your treatment. Every minute of every session is dedicated to understanding your unique situations, tailoring treatment to best suit your unique strengths, and actualizing your personal goals. People come to therapy for many reasons and I believe effective therapy should be individualized for each person.

Prior to working with The Harmony Center for Change, I provided outpatient individual, group, family, and intensive outpatient therapy for adults aged 18+. Additionally, I’ve worked with adolescents, adults, and elder adults in inpatient behavioral health and substance use settings. I specialize in providing affirming, de-stigmatizing care to LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse individuals as well as individuals with histories of complex trauma. My therapeutic style makes use of EMDR, DBT, CBT, and solution-focused therapy. As an EMDR-Trained Clinician, I offer EMDR as its own complete treatment model for addressing a wide variety of mental health concerns, or as a supplemental tool in other therapeutic techniques to strengthen your ability to modify your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

When I’m out of the office, I’m usually found playing all genres of video games, re-watching Star Trek: The Next Generation for the billionth time, or cuddling with one of my fur-babies (and yes, I have pictures).

(she/her/hers)

  • I created The Harmony Center for Change, so that you would have a place where you feel understood and seen. As a sensitive individual, I can understand how our environment can be invalidating in so many different ways. My purpose is for you to know that your emotions and experiences matter. We all have an inner wisdom and as part of the therapeutic process you will learn to trust your experiences. We believe in authenticity and the ability to honor it, while learning skills to change behaviors that are no longer serving us.

I became interested in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and those who struggle with big emotions when I was in undergraduate school. I grew an interest in learning more about self-harm and what is the most effective treatment in treating life-threatening behaviors. I was able to land an internship in the DBT program at The Institute of Living in 2013. This experience during graduate school gave me a unique exposure in working with those who struggle with Borderline Personality Disorder, trauma, anxiety and other affective disorders. I was able to learn how to treat clients that struggle with big emotions and suicidality.

I’ve completed my Intensive DBT Training with Dr. Charlie Swenson a Behavioral Tech consultant and practitioner. This has allowed me to specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and offer Comprehensive Treatment to teens and adults. We also understand the importance of treating trauma beliefs and how PTSD impacts your life. This is why our team is trained in DBT-PE with Adolescents and Adults.

My goal is to help you and your teen create a life, where you feel more connected and fulfilled in your lives. My work with your teen and family is not about just stopping unwanted behaviors but instead learning skills that can be generalized in your everyday life. If you are struggling with your emotions and sense of self, please feel free to reach out to us. We want to offer you treatment that works and helps you get a step closer to a life you love!

When I’m not working, I enjoy decorating my space, weight training and taking long walks with my two chihuahuas!
