Imagine your teen no longer feeling overwhelmed and having the ability to manage their own emotions in a healthy manner.
Are you worried about your teen and their impulsive behaviors? Do crisis happen more often lately? If your teen is depressed, angry or anxious. . .
Then Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is the best treatment for your teen.
Dialectical is such a complicated word for many including teens to understand. To make this easy for everyone Dialectics helps us stay away from extremes and walk the middle path in our thinking and actions.
Let’s put an end to mood swings, anxiety, crisis, and self-destructive behaviors.
I want to teach you learn the coping skills you need and be in control of your own emotions. Change and acceptance can happen at the same time if we embrace it. Let’s start working on the skills you need to help you have a life that brings joy again. All while validating your own emotions and coming from a place of Love and Kindness.
DBT is offered in individual therapy but works best in a group because it allows different perspectives.
- Mindfulness is the core of DBT, it will teach how to increase awareness and live in the present moment without judgement.
- Distress Tolerance – how to tolerate painful experiences, avoid panic attacks and not make the crisis worse.
- Emotion Regulation – how to regulate and control overwhelming intense emotions.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness – how to communicate with others effectively and place healthy boundaries.
To enroll in a DBT group, we ask that individuals complete an initial intake process, including filling out forms and scheduling individual therapy sessions. We would first start with an intake appointment and follow up with four commitment sessions prior to starting group. This pre-treatment stage is valuable and helps you understand the DBT model while setting targets and goals in your treatment. We encourage all new clients to see us for both individual and group therapy as we are doing our best to adhere to model.
